Helloooo! I hope everyone’s doing ok and keeping well. I’m joining in with the Ordinary Moments linky run by Donna (What The Redhead Said) this week. What with spending so much time at home, we’ve had plenty of ordinary moments this week. But one thing we’ve been doing more of than ever is crafting like crazy!
If I’m honest, I’ve never been a big crafter. You might know that already if you’ve followed me on Instagram for a while and seen me ranting about sodding crafting! I’m not very artistic or creative so it doesn’t come naturally to me. And so it’s never been something I particularly enjoy doing with the twiglets. (It feels even worse admitting that given that I’m a primary school teacher!!!) I was relieved when they started nursery so I didn’t have to feel guilty about the lack of craft I was doing with them at home! I knew they’d do it all there instead!
Part of the reason I always found it stressful was the fact there were two of them. Plus H had the shortest attention span and it would end up being 20 minutes clearing up for about 30 seconds of painting or whatever. Nowadays, crafting is so much easier with the twigs. They’re older now and can do things more independently and without covering the entire house in paint or glitter (just part of it!)
So in the past two weeks of home learning, we’ve done more crafting than in the twiglets’ whole lives! And I’ve actually found myself embracing it a bit. I think because I know it’s necessary as they’d usually be doing lots of it at school. I feel so sad for them that they’re missing school so I want to make this time at home as fun as possible.
So far we’ve painted rainbows for our windows, made toilet roll superheroes, lollystick puppets, model rockets, and no doubt other things I’ve forgotten! Probably no more than some of you do anyway, but for us it’s a lot! 🙂
So what about you? Are you crafting like crazy with your little ones during this time too? I’m finding spending lots of time out in the garden absolutely invaluable too. Whatever you’re up to, I hope you’re getting through it and staying sane!
