This week we went on a search for pretty wildflowers. A friend had posted some lovely photos on her Instagram of a field of those giant daisies (I forget what they’re called!) They looked so lovely and were quite near us so we decided to head there and check them out.

There were no pretty wildflowers…

Only when we got there, the field was bare and turning brown. I checked back on my phone and realised the messages had in fact been sent a MONTH ago haha! This is how much of a bloody time warp lockdown has been!! I swear I’ve just lost the last three months completely – so bizarre!

Anyway, so the pretty flowers were long gone. We’re such muppets! On my Insta I see all these people getting gorgeous family shots all over the place – in beautiful wildflower meadows they just somehow come across and stuff. We are so not one of those families!

A couple came past while we were aimlessly wandering and asked us if we’d seen a tree plantation they were looking for. We said no but mentioned the flowers. The guy shot us a withering look and said ‘well there’s no flowers now are there?!’ As if it was so obvious there wouldn’t be. Which it probably was to be fair!

Anyway there were a few purple prickly flower things – quite likely weeds. So f**k it, we took a couple of photos with those instead! πŸ™‚ And I actually quite like them! So they’re our Living Arrows photos for this week πŸ™‚

After that we drove off up to the Downs five minutes up the road and got an ice cream instead! Haha – so a bit of a failed mission but hey! I’d like to say it was fun but the twiglets whinged most of the time so it wasn’t really.

Other than our slight fail of a walk, last week has been about making the most of the sunshine. The twigs have had a lot of fun in the paddling pool and not done very much home learning at all! Oops.

An exciting week coming up!

This week is set to be a pretty exciting one for them. They are off to school! Just for three weeks and only 9-1 each day. But it’s something, and they are really excited. It will be a really different experience for them, compared to what school was before. After a lot of umming and aahing, I feel quite confident now that it will still be good for them though. They are so desperately in need of some interaction other than with us and each other.

And the really exciting thing is that on Friday the twigs will turn 5! I mean, that is actually crazy – I can’t believe they’re nearly 5! No doubt I will be an emotional wreck on Thursday evening, as I generally am the day before their birthdays.

Due to lockdown, or whatever the frick this limbo period we’re in is called, it will be a pretty low-key birthday for them. They’ll have school in the morning, which is nice really I think as they’ll get a bit of attention from different people. Then we have hired a bouncy castle for the garden, which I hope will be an awesome surprise for them after school! πŸ™‚ So it should be a lovely day, fingers crossed πŸ™‚

Hope everyone has a fab week!

Til next time,

Hannah xx

  1. Sorry you didn’t see any wildflowers – my wildflower corner in the garden got totally damaged in a hailstorm last week which is sad – the thistly things have survived though!

Enjoy the bouncy castle – what an awesome after school surprise that will be!

I think a lot of people are sending their children back to school settings. I think I would send my daughter but her nursery isn’t opening until September.
