Hello! A while ago, we were lucky enough to be invited along to have lunch at The Chilli Pickle, a street-food inspired Indian restaurant in Guildford. Here is my review, in case you’d like to visit too! 🙂
Location of The Chilli Pickle
The Chilli Pickle was easy to find, located at the top of Guildford high street and also easy to spot with its brightly coloured facade. The staff were really friendly, welcoming and attentive, and brought colouring bits for the twiglets while we sat down and looked at the menu.
I loved the decor of the restaurant – so quirky and colourful, with lots of interesting prints and ornaments to look at.
For starters, we went for poppadoms and some pani puri – crispy shells containing chickpea and potato salad. It was all delicious, especially accompanied by a cheeky beer 😋
The staff made a point of bringing the twiglets’ meals very promptly, which we very much appreciated. As we all know, there’s nothing worse than hangry children 😂 They had the kids’ thalis which consisted of chicken curry, rice, naan bread, mango chutney and a poppadom. The portions were really generous and the food certainly seemed very well received by our mini critics 😉
We also decided to go for thalis (adult ones obvs!) although there was so much on the lunch menu that sounded yummy, such as the open naan kebabs. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options which was fab 😊
I went for the methi paneer thali and the hubby had a chicken one. They were AMAAAAZING 😋 As well as the curry, they came with rice, dhal, pickle, raita, a chapatti, a poppadom and other dips I can’t remember the name of! But they were super yummy! 🤣
Unsurprisingly we were veeeery full after all that, so we declined desserts and just had coffee. The kids meals came with dessert (and children always have room for pudding somehow anyway!) so the twiglets had mango kulfi with cherry sauce and popping candy – their first experience of it. I bloody hate the stuff but they loved it! Their faces were a picture on the first taste though 😂
I think the staff were probably pleased to see the back of us after the twiglets turned full-on feral just before we left – the popping-candy sugar-high was, erm… extreme 😳😂
We would recommend a visit to The Chilli Pickle Guildford!
Anyway, if you live in or near Surrey, the Chilli Pickle Guildford is certainly worth a visit for authentic, tasty Indian food. They have another restaurant in Brighton too – check out their website for more info: www.thechillipickle.com
We had such a lovely time and will definitely be returning 😊
Thanks for reading!
