Week 5820193483 of lockdown and we are still mostly enjoying ourselves. We have been blessed with glorious weather again over the bank holiday weekend, which really does make such a huge difference. As I mentioned before, everything feels much harder when it’s grey and miserable outside! However, despite this, it is all starting to feel a bit Groundhog Day now, and the constant whinging from the twiglets is starting to get to me a bit!

Always in search of a snack or a screen

The main culprit in terms of the constant whinging is H. He’s actually much better during the week, when we are roughly following our home learning timetable. He’s always responded really well to structure and has struggled in the holidays before. I think he needs to know what’s happening and when – it makes him feel secure and safe.

So when I relax the timetable too much (basically when I can’t be a*sed with it) or at the weekends, he’s a total nightmare. He just whinges non-stop, asking for either snacks or his tablet to play on. Literally he just alternates between the two! And after seven or eight (actually lost count!) weeks of this, the relentlessness is starting to get to me a bit now!

A break from the constant whinging!

So I’ve chosen these photos for my Living Arrows post this week as they are of a highlight of the week. Basically an occasion when no-one was actually whinging!! The hubby made us all a fake McDonalds for dinner last week, which was so much fun. The twiglets loved it 🙂 He just printed off some templates to make the packaging – super easy! And made some skinny fries and chicken nuggets for the twigs and burgers for us 🙂 We happened to have a couple of ketchup and BBQ sauce pots left over from a previous Maccy D’s so we used those.

Who knows what the next few weeks will bring? Last night’s announcement didn’t really bring any huge changes in terms of lockdown, although it would appear that some idiots seem to think it’s already over anyway!! (Don’t even get me started on that!) But we will just carry on pretty much as we are for the moment, taking one day at a time. And finding the highlights and the special moments in among the constant whinging!! And of course, continuing to feel grateful for what we have, as we are extremely lucky 🙂

I hope lockdown is going ok for you – I can’t believe how long it’s been already!

Stay safe and thanks for reading! Til next time,

Hannah xx

Haha ours was a bit of a basic version – I’ve seen some people going to town with it! The kiddies loved it though 😀 x

  2. We have had some days where the kids have just moaned constantly. It’s getting to be quite hard work at times and I am really counting down to half term! x

It’s draining isn’t it! Don’t like to moan but it just gets a bit relentless sometimes!
