Mother’s Day is quickly creeping up on us. By the way, in the UK it’s on Sunday March 14th if you weren’t sure! I can’t believe we’re nearly into March already! Given that we will still be in lockdown for Mother’s Day, you may have started to wonder about how you can still give your mum a special day. Especially if you may not be able to see or visit her. Well worry not! I have pulled together the best ideas so that you can still treat your mum this lockdown Mother’s Day. Or even drop hints to the other half for how they could treat you haha πŸ˜‰

1. Order her afternoon tea at home

Everyone loves a good afternoon tea, right? In non-lockdown times, this is one of my Mum and I’s favourite activities to do together. Obviously this won’t be possible this year but thankfully lots of companies are offering an afternoon tea delivery service at the moment. Check out this post to find out where to order an afternoon tea delivery in Surrey.

2. Make her a photo book

There are loads of websites through which you can create lovely photobooks. They make perfect gifts and would be a great idea for Mother’s Day. We’ve used Photobox quite a few times before and always found them great.

3. Go for a walk

An obvious one but if you’re able to, spend a bit of time with her. In terms of lockdown, the rule on Mother’s Day will still be that you can meet one person from another household for exercise. So the two of you could go for a local walk – if you live nearby of course! If a walk isn’t possible, a doorstep drop of flowers and chocolates would be a lovely gesture too.

4. Record a video message

This is always a winner, especially if you get the grandchildren involved. Get them to sing a song or tell some jokes to make her laugh.

5. Make DIY vouchers for your mum’s favourite activities

To be fair, I often do this for Mother’s Day or my mum’s birthday anyway! She tends to prefer ‘experience’ pressies rather than material things. So I often make a little pretend voucher promising brunch at one of her favourite cafes or afternoon tea or a theatre trip. Then we book it at a later date. So this would be perfect to give her some outings to look forward to after lockdown.

6. Send her a spa pamper box

There are lots of companies making lovely spa gift boxes, particularly if you look on Etsy. Or you could put one together yourself. You could even do a virtual spa evening together! Just light some candles and chat while you apply facemasks, try out some lovely products and relax πŸ™‚

7. Send handmade cards

Of course, you can send lovely personalised cards through Moonpig and the like, but there’s something so thoughtful about handmade cards. Of course, get the grandkids involved too for that extra cute factor! Receiving lovely handmade cards on the doorstep or through the post would definitely make Mother’s Day really special for your mum. Here are some fab ideas for handmade Mother’s Day cards πŸ™‚

8. Have a virtual picnic

Drop off a hamper of yummy food at your Mum’s house then sit in your own back gardens (or living rooms if the weather’s not on your side!) and enjoy a picnic together over video call πŸ™‚

9. Have a games night

Games nights and good old quizzes on Zoom are always lots of fun! Check out these ideas for some fab games you can play on Zoom πŸ™‚

10. Do a virtual wine tasting

I did a virtual wine tasting with some friends through Sipologist Social (Sip Soc) recently and it was so much fun! We were all sent some pouches with different wines to taste and a lovely lady took us through each one and taught us how to taste them properly. It was great to do something a bit different in lockdown. If your mum is a fan of wine, this would be a lovely thing to do with her on Mother’s Day.

Or you could keep costs down by just buying both of you the same mini bottles of wine from the supermarket and doing your own tasting evening πŸ™‚ (check out the latest 25% off offers here!)

Yes definitely, not sure where we would have been without it throughout all this!

Thank you, glad you liked it πŸ™‚

  2. To be honest just a day off would be perfect – a day off from bum/face/worktop/floor wiping & everything inbetween!! #mischiefandmemories

  3. What lovely ideas. We always used to do something based around afternoon tea and spending the day with the 4 generations together… it won’t be happening this year, but there are so many ways to make it a special day still. After all that home learning, and think I’ll be quite happy to sit with my feet up with a giant bar of chocolate and a good book… to be read all to myself LOL. Thank you for sharing these ideas over on #mischiefandmemories xxx

Love afternoon tea πŸ™‚ Oh my gosh that sounds amazing haha!

  4. I feel a bit bad that I’m not that interested in Mother’s Day. My husband stresses about buying a present from each child so I have to come up with 3 gift ideas when I don’t want or need anything. My own mum is the same and we pressure her into choosing a gift. Usually we would have a meal so raising a glass virtually will be the closest we get this year! A ‘day off’ also doesn’t suit me as the dreaded mum guilt arrives…Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories

Haha no I’m not really for myself – I like to do something for my mum but she’s not really interested in material presents either – we usually get experience things – afternoon tea etc πŸ™‚

  5. There are some great ideas here. I am usually not that fussed about Mother’s Day, but after the year so far when I have done more mothering than I thought was humanly possible I 100% need to be treated #MischiefAndMemories

  9. I’ve really missed my mum and nan this year, not just on Mothers Day, we are ridiculously close and we love nothing more than tea and cake together. We managed a doorstep drop off of some delicious cake though and fingers crossed we’ll be able to have a little garden gathering soon.
