A little while ago, we had a super fun trip to Godstone Farm to check out their roarsome new Dinosaur Trail. We had the loveliest time! Read on to find out all about it 🙂
We’ve visited Godstone Farm before, when the twiglets were smaller. It was such a great day out and the twigs really enjoyed it! So we were thrilled to be gifted some tickets for another visit. Especially now that they have opened ‘The World Of Dinosaur Roar!’ Discovery Trail.
‘The World Of Dinosaur Roar!’ Discovery Trail
The dinosaur trail at Godstone Farm opened in June 2021.
Our exciting new trail features life-size dinosaur models in a natural woodland setting, bringing to life the delightful series of The World of Dinosaur Roar! children’s books and characters created by Peter Curtis, based on Dinosaur Roar! by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland and produced in association with the Natural History Museum in London.

We absolutely loved the Dinosaur Trail. The dinosaurs were so colourful and engaging, without being too scary as some life-size dinosaur models can be! The twiglets thoroughly enjoyed running along the woodland path and reading all the information about the different types of dinos.
During the holidays, you could also meet a real life dinosaur too! A few kids were a little nervous but the twigs ran straight up and gave it a big hug! Possibly not the most sensible idea to hug a dinosaur but there we go 😉
Entry to the Dinosaur Trail is included in your general admission ticket to the Farm.
Animals
As well as the dinosaur trail, there are plenty of other things to do at Godstone Farm. Of course, a major highlight is seeing all the animals. You can buy a packet of animal food to feed the pigs, sheep, goats, cows and llamas as you go round. The feeding is through little chutes into the enclosures, which is great if you have a nervous little one or want to avoid being licked! 😉
You can also meet some of the animals up close and personal with an animal encounter! The twiglets LOVED meeting Cookie the guinea pig (I think that was its name!!) It was very well organised with an animal handler supervising and ensuring everyone got a good amount of time for their turn. In the barn there were also rabbits, chickens, chinchilla, degu, terrapins, tortoises and other small animals.
There are various other animal experiences to try at Godstone Farm, including the Meerkat Experience, which sounds amazing! We did a fun Guinea Pig Fishing activity outside, where you put a piece of carrot on the end of a fishing rod then throw it in the enclosure to entice the guinea pigs near. I think they were already a bit full up by the time we got there but it was fun anyway! (This was only on for the summer).
Pig racing
The pig racing is great fun! At certain times during the day, people gather to watch a group of pigs racing through an obstacle course. If you choose which pig you want to win, it makes it more competitive 🙂 It was very popular and we really enjoyed it.
Outdoor play area
The outdoor play area at Godstone Farm is EPIC. You could easily visit here for this alone! There are lots of different areas with basically everything you could possibly want in a playground. There are sandpits, slides, climbing walls, animal rockers, climbing towers, and even a zip line!
If you have quite little ones, you’d definitely need to supervise them closely though. The play area is pretty massive and younger ones could easily wander off! The sandpit behind the tea room is more enclosed and there is also a little runway next to the entrance for the Dinosaur Trail, with ride-on toys for younger children.
Indoor soft play
For the indoor soft play, you book a 35-minute time slot. This ensures that numbers are limited which made it very pleasant. There’s plenty in there to entertain all ages, including a baby section with mini ball pit and lots of baby toys and a toddler area for under-4s, with a smaller frame and slides, plus a fun role-play area. The main frame is designed for children aged 4+, with climbing, sliding, bridges, rollers, and tight spots to squeeze through.
The twiglets really liked the soft play frame, particularly the mini drop slide, which was the perfect size for them. (They’re scared of bigger ones!)
Refreshments at Godstone Farm
The Courtyard Kitchen restaurant serves a range of hot meals, sandwiches, little farmers’ picnics, cakes, barista coffee, as well as hot and cold drinks. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a play area at the back. We really enjoyed our lunch here when we visited. The sweet potato fries were yummyyy!
You can even order afternoon tea, which includes a selection of sandwiches for adults and children, cake, scones and a drink. (This needs to be pre-booked on the website).
In the main outdoor play area, Wiglet’s Snack Shed and Top Snack shop sells a selection of Marshfield ice creams, along with pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches and hot and cold snacks.
