Hello! As you probably already know, when it comes to craft, I am not a natural in the slightest! So it’s all about ease for me. Especially when doing craft activities with young twins! So I just thought I’d share a super simple activity we did the other day. I think these easy toilet roll minibeasts look pretty effective. And cute too! πŸ™‚

You will need:

To make these easy toilet roll minibeasts, you can use pretty much anything you have in your craft supplies really! But we used:

  • Toilet rolls
  • Paint or paint sticks
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Card/construction paper
  • Beads
  • Googly eyes
  • PVA glue
  • Feltips
  • Skewer
  • Scissors

  • Pom poms
  • Glitter glue
  • Washi tape

How to make toilet roll minibeasts:

First, get your little one to paint some toilet rolls then leave them to dry. We used our Little Brian Paint Sticks to paint ours. We love these as they’re so versatile and easy to use. And much less messy than normal paint too! We found that the metallic ones worked really well for our minibeasts as they’re shimmery.

Next, you need to make some holes in the toilet rolls using a skewer (an adult needs to do this part!) We only had a baking one haha! You need to make six holes – three on each side – for the legs to go through. So poke the skewer straight through and out the other side three times.

Then thread three evenly sized pipe cleaners through the holes so you have six legs. After that you can add a bead to the end of each leg to make feet.

Cut out some wings and antennae from coloured card and stick them to the minibeast using PVA glue. I like the Baker Ross glue we have as it’s really handy to use. You just twist the lid to open it and it has a built-in spreader on the nozzle. (Not an ad – just a recommendation!) You can add washi tape or use sequins, glitter glue or feltips to decorate the body.

Finally, stick on some googly eyes. If you run out (like we did) you can just cut two ovals from white card and draw eyes with a black feltip. You could also stick on a pom pom for a nose and draw on a little mouth. Leave to dry, then that’s it! Your finished super easy toilet roll minibeast πŸ™‚
