Recently I made a little eco swap I’ve been meaning to make for ages! I finally started using reusable face wipes, instead of disposable ones. My friend bought me some for Christmas from a lovely little shop on Etsy called Sparrow Road Handmade. And I love them! So I thought I’d share some of the reasons why I’m a total convert 🙂

reusable face wipes from Sparrow Road Handmade

1. Reusable face wipes are environmentally friendly

So this is probably the most obvious reason to make the switch!

According to the FDA in this article by InStyle, disposable cleansing wipes are made of non-biodegradable materials like polyester, polypropylene, cotton, wood pulp and rayon fibres. Most wipes end up sitting in landfills for years and years. The plastic packaging they usually come in causes huge amounts of waste too.

Pretty shocking, right?!

2. They’re kind to skin

The reusable face wipes I have from Sparrow Road are made from soft bamboo terry on one side and cotton on the other. No nasty chemicals like you tend to find in disposable wipes.

I love using the bamboo terry side because it’s slightly exfoliating which makes your skin feel lovely and smooth.

Also, you can then choose which make-up removing lotion you purchase to use with your wipes. So you can get a nice gentle one with less chemicals. I like Simple micellar cleansing water*.

3. They’re easy to use

Reusable face wipes are super simple to use! Once they’re dirty, I just pop mine in a little mesh laundry bag (I bought some from Amazon). And into the washing machine! I just put them in with a normal wash and they come out completely clean.

4. They look awesome!

One of the really great things about reusable face wipes is that you can get such cool ones in all sorts of different designs! Sparrow Road have a huge range to choose from – I love my rainbow ones 🙂 They have lots of different patterns, from floral to space-themed.

5. Reusable face wipes are great value

As with lots of eco-friendly options, switching to reusable wipes involves a little bit of an investment initially. Although not a lot really to be fair!

A set of 10 make-up remover pads from Sparrow Road costs ÂĢ12.50. Obviously you then need some cleansing lotion to use with them. But then they will last for ages, if not forever!!

So it definitely works out better value in the long run than frequently purchasing packs of disposable wipes.

What are your thoughts? Do you already use reusable face wipes or would you consider switching?

Don’t forget to check out Sparrow Road Handmade for other eco-friendly products, like reusable breast pads and baby wipes 🙂

Thanks for reading!

Til next time,

Hannah xx
