Another week down! And the Easter holidays are creeping up on us fast! I can’t even believe we’re almost at the end of March already. This year has been bizarre. Lockdown has dragged eternally, yet somehow the year is flying by at the same time! Very weird. Anyway, again I don’t have a lot to report this week, as not a lot has really happened. We’ve all got lockdown hair and we’re still plodding along basically!
Red Nose Day
The twigs have had a good week at school, although they’ve been pretty exhausted. Friday was Red Nose Day and they were asked to dress up as superheroes. Luckily we had costumes for this already, although C’s Supergirl dress was a tad on the short side!
Frustrating news
We did have a bit of disappointing news this week – although not entirely unexpected. Our second attempt at a referral to CAMHS for C was turned down 🙁 It’s frustrating as the SENCO had put so much detail on the form and the response suggested they’d barely even read it. They also didn’t seem to have linked up that we’d had a previous referral as they made the same recommendations as last time. (A parenting course which we’re already on the very long waiting list for *eye roll*).
Anyway I know they are vastly underfunded and overwhelmed but it’s so disheartening. Especially when it’s so hard to reach out for support in the first place. We’re not really sure what our next step will be at the moment – I feel like a little like we’re out of options for now which is a bit rubbish!
Lockdown hair!
Anyway, photos are few and far between at the moment. I think this is literally the only photo I’ve taken of the twigs this week! So this week’s Living Arrows pic is just them chilling out in their teepee doing a spot of colouring 🙂
H is so in need of a haircut now and I don’t dare to attempt it myself. My hairdressing skills leave a LOT to be desired! Trimming C’s fringe is as far as I will go.
Roll on April or whenever it is hairdressers reopen and we can all sort out our lockdown hair!

Lovely photo of them hard at work! And I’m with you, I can trim fringes ok and cut my own long hair, but something about cutting short hair feels so much harder! x #LivingArrows
It really does! I tried to do my husband’s in the first lockdown and messed it up so much he just had to shave it all off, oops!
How disappointing about your CAHMs assessment. I hope that now they are putting more money into mental health that things will improve because this has been going on for far too long (Trust me, I’m currently on the 21st year with my daughter.) I’m with you on the lock down hair, my kids look like mop heads. I have been given permission to cut my teens fringe as she can’t see.
Gosh it is awful how long it takes to get any sort of support. We just keep falling at the first hurdle! I hope your daughter is doing ok x
Sorry to hear about CAMHS. I was referred to them when I was 11, so that’s 22 years ago and they weren’t much help then. It took me 10 years to get my autism diagnosis. They were very hesitant to commit to anything. I’ve got no advice about where to go next, sorry. I don’t have advice on lockdown hair either because I got so fed up of mine I shaved it off

10 years, god the system is so crap isn’t it 🙁 So sorry it took so long. So many people have told me that CAMHS are absolutely rubbish. Not too sure where to turn next really! I’ve been tempted to shave mine off but it really wouldn’t suit me!
I can’t wait to get a haircut! I had an appointment booked for the week that we went into lockdown so of course that was cancelled – it’s almost 6 months since mine was cute. At leas in winter you can hide your hair under a hat but now spring is coming…

Haha yes I’ve done the same with C’s. I don’t dare touch H’s but his is getting in his eyes too now! Only a few more weeks phew!

Omg me too – lockdown has so turned me grey haha!! Yes we may well try again but not immediately as would just be same response. Going to see how it goes for a bit and decide what our next steps will be! x
I’m sorry to hear you are struggling to get the support you need as a family. That completely sucks. I’ve cut my hair once over the past year, and I cut my two older ones’ hair last week! Slight bowl hair cuts, but it’ll do for now! Hahaha
