A Family Photoshoot With Surrey Photographer Rachel Thornhill

A few weeks ago, we spent a fabulous morning at Mayfield Lavender with the very lovely Surrey photographer Rachel Thornhill. I’ve known Rachel for a few years as she used to teach the twiglets Gymboree before she embarked on her career as a photographer. Her work is amazing so when she offered to take some photos of them I almost bit her arm off 😂 Here’s how we got on 🙂

We met at Mayfield Lavender Nursery, the ‘secret’ lavender field in Banstead, Surrey 🙊😊 It’s a bit more wild and natural than the main field further up the road but, unlike that one, is not open to the public. It is available for private hire though 😊

Rachel put the twiglets at ease

It was so lovely to see Rachel again. The twigs didn’t remember her as such as it had been a while, but with her friendly manner and humour, they warmed to her really quickly.

I’d actually been pretty nervous about how they’d behave. Let’s just say they are less than cooperative when I try to take photos of them! 🙈

But Rachel was amazing with them 😊 She was so warm, relaxed and funny, with a huge repertoire of tricks up her sleeve. From singing songs, to quoting their favourite TV shows, chasing them around, playing pat-a-cake, even blowing bubbles. Mainly though, they just did their own thing and she was there to capture them messing about and being their nutty little selves 😍

I just love how Rachel captured their little personalities so perfectly 😍🤣

We also spent lots of time running (and rolling!) around in the orchard:

She even managed the impossible and got some decent photos of me!! 😱

If you’re looking for a Surrey photographer, I would thoroughly recommend Rachel for a relaxed, natural family photoshoot. She will totally put you at ease (even if you’re awkward as a*se like me 😂) You won’t be disappointed! 😁
