The world will hopefully be starting to open up soon (fingers crossed!) as we start to move out of lockdown. I think many of us will be feeling excited to be able to go out in the evenings again. Personally I can’t WAIT to go out for dinner. Takeaways are great of course, but there’s something special about getting dressed up and making a bit of an effort to go out to eat. The other half and I are definitely owed a few date nights after the past year! And I’m sure many of you are feeling the same. So whether it’s a first date with a new flame, or a long-overdue evening out with your other half, here are 20 romantic restaurants in Surrey for the perfect post-lockdown date night.

If you’re in a long-term relationship, whether married or not, date nights are a great way to keep the romance alive. When you have children, it can be even more important to spend some time just the two of you! (I know for us at least, it does not happen very often!)

So without further ado, here are some of the best romantic restaurants in Surrey. (Some of these are our favourites. And some I’ve found through reviews and are on my list to try when we can!)
Romantic Indian restaurants in Surrey
Roz Ana
Roz Ana is located just outside Kingston town centre. It’s a friendly and welcoming contemporary Indian restaurant. We’ve visited a few times and found the food delicious.
Dastaan
We have been to Dastaan a couple of times and the food is absolutely amazing! Dastaan is located in Ewell and is run by two chefs with impressive culinary backgrounds and experiences. We would highly recommend it!
Raviz
Raviz is a restaurant in Guildford, serving delicious and refined Indian cuisine. They describe themselves as ‘a new twist in Indian dining.’ And the rave reviews would suggest they’re doing a fab job! With Michelin star experience, their food is described by diners as ‘sensational.’
Chakra
Chakra is located on Kingston riverside and combines traditional Indian flavours with contemporary flair. When we visited, we thought the food was gorgeous.
Romantic Italian restaurants in Surrey
Positano
Positano is tucked away in the centre of Guildford, in a red brick Elizabethan building that’s full of character. It serves authentic Italian cuisine using the best local produce. And the service is friendly and welcoming.
Bellini
Bellini Restaurant in Woking is a rustic trattoria. It serves authentic Italian food which is prepared in traditional fashion by Italian chefs.
Prima Fila
Prima Fila is a welcoming, family-run pizzeria in Walton. Their dishes range from pastas and pizzas to steaks and fish. And they’re all cooked using good quality ingredients and at a modest price. Also, the staff are friendly and helpful.
Romantic Thai restaurants in Surrey
Giggling Squid
Giggling Squid is a chain of Thai restaurants offering simple, tasty Thai food with amazing colours and textures. They have restaurants in Reigate, Esher, Farnham, Kingston and Guildford.
Thann Thai
Thann Thai in Chertsey serves authentic Thai food with a touch of modern influence. The service is friendly and welcoming.
Romantic Mediterranean restaurants in Surrey
Acorn
Acorn in Godalming is a Spanish fusion restaurant that prides itself on using fresh and seasonal produce. And apparently the oysters are amazing!
Red Peppers
Red Peppers in Esher is a lovely little restaurant. I’ve visited many times and never been disappointed. The food is great and the service is always really friendly.
Theion
Theion is a Greek restaurant in Guildford with a warm and cosy interior. The food is delicious and the service attentive.
Romantic Middle Eastern restaurants in Surrey
Mezzet
Mezzet in East Molesey is a family-run restaurant that serves delicious Spanish and Lebanese food.
Maison du Mezze
Maison du Mezze is a stylish restaurant with ornate decor, located in the Bentalls Centre in Kingston. It serves traditional Lebanese cuisine & brunch options.
Cappadocia
Cappadocia serves traditional Turkish food cooked by Turkish chefs. There is a restaurant in Kingston and also one in Walton now too.
Romantic British restaurants in Surrey
The Ivy Cobham Brasserie
The Ivy Cobham Brasserie is a luxurious yet relaxed all-day dining restaurant with a gorgeous terrace. The food is consistently delicious. And the restaurant always has a lovely vibrant atmosphere whenever I’ve visited. As well as Cobham, there are also Ivy brasseries in Wimbledon Village and Guildford.
Sorrel
For something a bit special, head to Sorrel, an amazing Michelin Star restaurant in Dorking. The menu constantly evolves to reflect the seasons. It is on the pricier side. But the food is delicious and the service attentive.
1907
1907 is a stylish and contemporary restaurant, bar and grill located next to Brooklands racetrack. It has two AA rosettes and uses local and seasonal produce to create classical flavours with modern cooking techniques.
The Clockhouse Restaurant
The Clockhouse Restaurant in Ripley is a Michelin Star restaurant serving beautifully presented modern British cuisine using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The Tudor Room
And if you really fancy treating your date, head to The Tudor Room. It’s part of The Great Fosters Hotel in Egham and is a luxurious dining room with silk-lined walls and 17th Century tapestry. The Head Chef Tony Parkin creates beautiful food using locally sourced, high-quality produce.

Great list of places to eat! We don’t really do date nights ourselves, we always have our son with us, BUT we did manage to take him with us to eat successfully, twice last year (in the late summer, when the restaurants were open and hopes about the pandemic being over soon were high – a bit like now, but I’m hoping it really will be over soon this time!). So perhaps one day we could take him for an Indian or Italian in Kingston, where his dad lived for a while as a child 🙂 x #KCACOLS
