As a primary school teacher and as a parent, I’m always on the lookout for kids’ shows that promote learning but in a really fun way. Recently the twiglets have been trying out a fantastic new educational show for kids called ‘Tiger and Tim’. They’ve been loving the videos of Tim and his friend Tiger, and have learned so much already. So I thought I’d share some more information about the show, in case you might want to check it out for your little ones too 🙂

What is Tiger and Tim?
Tiger and Tim is a show on YouTube, aimed at kids aged 3+. As well as being both fun and educational, it is also a project for social good.
How did Tiger and Tim begin?
Tiger and Tim was born from the COVID-19 lockdown, loneliness and a desire to help people when they needed it most. The world also feels very divided, so perhaps a silly human and a tenacious Tiger (who can’t roar), can meet in the jungle, become best friends and show children that we are all better off united.
I LOVE the message behind why Tiger and Tim was started. Anything to encourage unity and friendship is already pretty awesome in my book!
Tim’s great-grandfather was a big inspiration for the show. As a child, he was saved by an orphanage called the Foundling Hospital, which was the first ever children’s charity in the world. The show aims to give millions more deserving children the opportunity to grow and thrive.
The creators of Tiger and Tim are passionate about closing the ever-growing literacy gap that exists around the world. This educational show for kids aims to develop not only reading, listening, speaking and comprehension ability, but also wider knowledge, emotional intelligence and family values. I think this is just amazing, as it’s rare for one show to focus on so many important aspects of children’s understanding.
What can you find on the Tiger and Tim YouTube channel?
On the Tiger and Tim YouTube channel, there are lots of different types of videos:
- Full episodes (around 15 minutes or 25-30 minutes)
- Story Time (5-6 minutes)
- Jokes, riddles and tongue twisters (3-4 minutes)
- Quiz and trivia questions (4-6 minutes)

On the website, you can also find Tiger’s blog, with lots of excellent articles on everything from how children learn, to craft ideas, to tiger facts!

What we love about this educational show for kids:
It’s safe
In all honesty, we don’t generally let the twiglets watch much on YouTube yet, mainly because I’ve always felt a bit nervous about it. But recently they’ve started to become more aware of it, as lots of their friends watch videos on there.
So I was really pleased to discover the Tiger and Tim channel, as I feel really confident that the twigs can safely browse through the videos on there, without coming across anything dodgy or age-inappropriate.
It’s varied
The twigs have been really enjoying the videos. There’s so much choice, on such a wide range of topics, to grab their interest. I like that there are different types of videos of varying lengths, so children can dip in and out depending on what they feel like.
In terms of the full episodes, particular favourites have been the ‘Space Travel’ and ‘Food Glorious Food!’ videos. (Anything to do with food is always going to win H over haha!) The ‘Wash Your Hands’ episode is super useful in the current climate too.
It’s fun
Tiger and Tim themselves are such likeable, friendly characters. The twiglets certainly find them really engaging, and even pretty funny too. I think the combination of live action and animation is so effective and appealing to children – definitely a lot of fun!
It teaches important values
I love everything that Tiger and Tim stands for. It teaches such important values and qualities, and promotes cultural awareness brilliantly.
I particularly love how the show inspires curiosity in children, as I think it’s so important for kids to be encouraged to ask questions and be inquisitive.
Your kids can even appear on the show!
On the website there is a section in the menu called: ‘Appear On The Show.’ All you have to do is fill in the form and upload a landscape photo. It can be either of your child with a pet or interesting animal, or of a piece of their artwork. A lovely little touch to help kids feel involved and inspire a love of learning 🙂
Tiger and Tim – Our conclusion
The twigs are definitely big fans of Tiger and Tim! I’m sure they will be watching the videos for a long time, and will be looking forward to new ones too.
I think the videos are really engaging and provide a great balance between fun and education. As Tiger and Tim themselves say, ‘education is best when it doesn’t really feel like education.’
