I’ve been wanting to get the twiglets some personalised books for ages, but just never quite got round to it. So I was thrilled at the opportunity to work with Wonderbly. We were sent some Wonderbly personalised books to review, and here is what we thought! πŸ™‚

Wonderbly personalised books review

Why personalised books?

Wonderbly‘s aim is to create magical personalised stories that allow children to imagine themselves doing extraordinary things. Personalised stories are so much more relatable for children – they can quite literally see themselves in the story!

It can also have a huge effect on their language and literacy development, and encourages them to become confident and enthusiastic readers for life. Wonderbly books all have lovely messages and develop values such as courage, friendship, kindness and curiosity in children.

Choosing our Wonderbly personalised books

It was tricky to choose from Wonderbly’s lovely range of personalised books. I loved the look of the very popular *‘Lost My Name’ books. I’d seen these before and they look so lovely – a story all based around the letters of a child’s name.

But I decided that with Fathers’ Day coming up, I’d go for one of Wonderbly’s *‘You Are The Best Dad Ever’ books.

So for the second book, I didn’t want to get one just for one of the twiglets – that would never end well with twins!! So I was really pleased to spot a book made specially for siblings – a lovely sharing story called *‘That’s MY Cake!’

Personalising the books

Personalising the books was sooo easy and took no time at all. The website is very user-friendly and takes you through all the sections of the book, most with different options to choose from. It’s all super clear and simple. And I love that you can customise the characters’ appearances, to make them look like your children!

Also, I liked that there weren’t toooo many choices, as I think I would have found that a bit overwhelming! But it was just about right – enough options to be personalised but not too much to be a massive great job πŸ™‚

You can also write a message for the recipient in the front of the book. I was feeling a bit unimaginative and pretty much stuck with the suggested ones as the words were lovely πŸ™‚

There is also an option to choose between a hard or soft cover for the book. I went for hard cover as I figured it would be that bit more durable.

‘You Are The Best Dad Ever!’

The ‘Best Dad Ever’ book is really lovely. As you go through, it lists all the attributes and talents of the dad that you all love. (You choose from a selection when you customise the book). So I chose qualities like hardworking, great at cooking and funny (shown below). The pages are so cleverly written and quirky yet also really heartfelt.

There are so many humorous little touches. I particularly loved this page about the other half being a great cook. The pasta names like ‘Henryccine’ and ‘Coraaroni’ are so cute!

I know the other half is going to love this for Fathers’ Day – the twiglets can’t wait to give it to him πŸ™‚

‘That’s MY Cake!’

Wonderbly siblings books

‘That’s MY Cake!’ is a hilarious story for more than one child, designed to encourage teamwork and promote sharing. It doesn’t actually have to just be for siblings – it would work perfectly for cousins or friends too. The book is recommended for up to 8-year olds, and can feature 2, 3 or 4 children.

I love books that encourage sharing, as it’s an especially important skill for twins to learn, given that they have to do so much of it! And the personalised aspect makes it easier for them to relate the story to their own lives.

The twiglets love this book and have read it nearly every day since we got it! They think it’s so funny, but they also really grasp the message that they’re stronger when they work together.
