This week started off well with Bank Holiday Monday – everyone loves a three-day weekend, right? Unfortunately the week has got progressively more trying since then!
Bank Holiday
For the Bank Holiday, we braved having a meal out at a pub. We had a meltdown from C before we’d even got out the car but after she calmed down it was actually pretty ok. I mean, I had forgotten how NOT remotely relaxing it is eating out with kids! Especially two who are extremely out of practice at waiting for food haha! But thankfully, we had brought lots of activities and things to keep them entertained. (Thank goodness for their Fun Folders from My Busy Bots – bloody godsend!)
And it was SO good to eat yummy food not cooked by either of us! We went to the Greyhound in Carshalton. They have a big outdoor area with a marquee and heaters. I mean, we were still flipping freezing but hey. I was quite impressed with the two women I saw with hot water bottles stuffed up their jumpers – wish I’d thought of that!
Tough behaviour
We’ve seen a big deterioration in C’s behaviour at home the past few days. I think it’s partly to do with being busy again and her feeling overwhelmed, but otherwise I’m not quite sure. School are still being really supportive. I had a Teams meeting with the SENCO and ELSA on Tuesday and ended up making a bit of a t*t of myself crying. It’s just feeling quite tough at the moment. We just really want to get some answers, and it’s still proving so difficult to even get past the first hurdle and actually have a referral accepted.
But the SENCO is working on another CAMHS referral and I managed to get some advice on what to include. So fingers crossed we may be successful this time. I know the waiting lists are massive even if we are, but at least it will feel like we might be on the right path.
Until then, we will carry on muddling through. I can see that some of the strategies we’ve been using are helping, so that’s encouraging. We just want to understand exactly what’s going on for C and help make life a bit easier for her.
Other annoying things!
There have been various other reasons why this week has been a trying one. Like the other half being super stressed with work. And receiving our long-awaited swing set for the garden and realising we hadn’t ordered quite what we thought we had! 🙁 It’s partly our error but mostly the company’s I think. (They had the wrong images on the listing at the time – now changed but luckily I have screenshots!) So I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen with that. Super annoying as it’s a lot of money! Oh and I got a driving penalty fine for something that also was arguably not my fault haha!
Anyway nothing really horrendous, just one of those weeks! I hope yours has been ok 🙂
This week’s Living Arrows photos are from our walk on Bank Holiday Monday 🙂

Ah the Greyhound! I used to live in Carshalton before we moved to Camberley. Fond memories! x
I didnt realise how much I had missed eating out until we did. Sounds like you have table activities sorted though and love the rainbow tights and shoes
I hope that this week has been much kinder to you all. I think its that point of the term where everything can be pretty exhausting! x
