So after being quite excited last week about all the twigs’ clubs and activities starting back up, we have moved pretty quickly towards feeling overwhelmed! I think it’s definitely been a shock to the system going from nothing happening in lockdown, to suddenly being very busy!

Comparison is the thief of joy

I always try not to compare myself to others on social media. But I have felt a bit of pressure seeing others out having fun and doing exciting things. I haven’t met up with any friends for an evening out as yet, and to be honest, I don’t really feel in any huge rush. But I can feel the FOMO creeping back in haha! Have to say, I didn’t miss that feeling while we were in lockdown!

Anyway I guess it’s good to go at your own pace. I’m never organised enough to have booked fun day trips out for the weekend. Plus I feel like the twigs need a fair amount of downtime at the weekends after a busy week anyway…

Adjusting

Being busier again has certainly affected C. I’ve mentioned many times before about the ongoing difficulties she is having with managing her emotions etc. Starting ballet the other week was so exciting for her and she’s absolutely loving it. But I feel like we all pay a bit of a price the more fun things she does… As she’s then quite overwhelmed from it all and takes it out on us.

It’s hard because I don’t want to stop her doing things she really enjoys, and I think it’s good for her in lots of ways. It’s an opportunity to make new friends and experience something different, plus I loved ballet when I was younger. But at the same time then I wonder if it’s fair on her if it’s all too much? Argh! I guess we’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks as we settle into a routine and see if it gets easier as she adjusts.

More juggling

I’ve also gone up to two days a week teaching. Which isn’t much at all, but it’s another new routine to get used to. Juggling childcare on those days, fitting everything else in around it etc… I’m actually quite enjoying it though, which is good!

I just feel like the mental load is huge at the moment. Maybe it’s due to still processing the events of the past year, I don’t know. It just feels like there is a LOT to remember and to think about right now!

We haven’t had much time for photos this week, so this week’s Living Arrows pics are just of the twigs being silly at home haha!

I hope you’ve had a good week. Anyone else feeling a bit overwhelmed returning to normality after lockdown, or just me?

Til next time,

  1. I spend half of most days feeling like this tbh! We tend to not do much at weekends either as were all really tired. I think it’s going to be a case of planning more activities for the holidays rather than term time as thats survival mode! Hope this week is easier for you all xx

  2. We still only have gymnastics at the moment and that’s enough for me – I can’t cope with commitments any more! x

  3. I must admit the overwhelm here is huge but its more me than the kids! I think I am struggling to adjust. Hope ballet goes well x

  4. Aww these are the cutest photos!! To be honest, I am constantly feeling overwhelmed atm. I think it’s FOMO mixed with trying to get back to normality, without rushing into it. It’s stressful!

  5. I’ve not been out with friends yet either – sitting outside in the cold doesn’t really appeal! We seem to have gone from nothing to super busy very quickly too, I think it will take everyone a while to get used to the new routine. Fab pictures this week too – some times the silly ones at home are the best ones!
